This trail is part of the Florida Trailwalker Program. Goethe State Forest has more than 15 different natural communities and may contain the largest tract of contiguous, old-growth longleaf pine flatwoods in the state. It also features scrubby flatwoods, dome swamp, sandhill, and basin swamp. Black Prong is a loop trail extending a total of 10 miles but there are shortcuts if you want to take a shorter hike.
